Giant Bicycle Lake to Lake 29er Mountain Bike Event

On June 15th, 2014, Lake to Lake Events Inc. will host the 16th annual Giant Bicycles Lake to Lake 29r Mountain Bike Event. This improved course, which was first initiated in 2012, will start at Brock University and end after 29 kilometers of incredible trails at beautiful Charles Daley Park on the shores of Lake Ontario.

History: This point to point citizen’s mountain bike event first conceived in 1998 by a group of Niagara-based cycling friends, including Olympic silver medalist and Tour de France force Steve Bauer, and is is one of the longest standing and successful mountain bike Events in Canada. For the first 13 years, the “Classic” spanned 50 km from Port Colbourne to Lake Ontario, until, the course was modified in 2012 as a result of diminishing access to parts of the original route, including a recent major construction at our original finish site in Port Dalhousie. The new event, with its 29 km of fun trails, was renamed the “29er” and includes more single-track. The original sponsor for the Classic event was Tim Hortons, but this important role has been taken over in the past few years by Giant Bicycles.
